Scots Church, Sydney Australia
This heritage-listed Church refurbished its unique Presbyterian Church Assembly Hall, and extended vertically to create a new residential element – Portico Apartments, designed by Tonkin Zulaikha Greer Architects.
HBO+EMTB was involved from the feasibility stage of this project in consultation with the City Council and NSW Heritage Office. The commission involved the preparation of a Conservation Management Plan, the setting of guidelines for future use and development, and authoring of Heritage Impact Statements. HBO+EMTB subsequently provided varied conservation and design advice for documentation and construction phases of the works.
HBO+EMTB Heritage Director, Brian McDonald also served as a member of the judging panel for the design competition for the Church’s residential component.
