The National Gallery of Australia
The National Gallery
is Australia’s
premier art gallery and is listed as a place of historic significance. The design
was the successful entry in an international design competition and was later
awarded the Royal Australian Institute of Architects’ Canberra Medallion. It has
subsequently become one of Canberra’s
principal attractions.
The Gallery design is in
consonance with the adjacent High Court and its unique mutli-dimensional
geometry of its design is evident in the vertical blades and columns of its
exterior, to the triagrid ceiling-floor system and angles and perspectives of
its interiors.
