IATA (International Air Transport Association), Singapore
HBO+EMTB was appointed for the fitout of IATA’s 22,000sqft tenancy in the Singapore Power Building. The commission involved the local interpretation and implementation of an existing masterplan prepared by IATA’s global facilities design partner.
IATA and HBO+EMTB recognised the fitout as an opportunity to facilitate a comprehensive shift in workplace culture. Transparency was a key design driver and staff interaction, lines of communication and hierarchies were all addressed in the resulting open-plan environment. Shared breakout spaces and meeting rooms of varying size provide a range of formal and informal spaces for exchange and contact amongst the various user groups.
A departure from previous workplaces, the office provides the organisation with a fresh, distinctive design. Integral to the scheme was the selection of a brand synonymous with progressive workplace design - Vitra – as the sole furniture supplier. With a predominantly neutral backdrop, decorative flourishes were subtly overlayed, surfacing in meeting rooms lined with string curtains and playful table lamps occupying employees desks. The strategy ultimately empowered staff to introduce a sense of personality to their office.
