SM Cyberzone, Cebu, Marikina, Manila, Cubao; Phillipines
Cyberzone is the retail hub of famous brands for electronics, communications and computer devices of the Philippines’ leading mall developer, SM Prime Holdings. The design objectives of the project are to effectively highlight tenant products and to create a unique shopping experience that showcases the latest technologies.
HBO+EMTB, taking inspiration from “microchips”, computer signals, and radio waves, created a look that refects the retail products. A curvilinear plan is introduced for central areas, deviating from the traditional grid layout used by shopping centers. This provides more tenant storefront, increased flexibility, and maximizes leasable spaces. Shoppers have an almost 360° view of all storefronts and the layout provides opportunities for kiosks and exhibit areas for promotions and other retail activities. In creating this “space within a space”, the Cyberzone is transformed into a unique destination within the mall.
