Pacific Highway Upgrade: Woodburn to Ballina, Australia

HBO+EMTB is part of a multi disciplinary team lead by Hyder Consulting Engineers currently undertaking route option planning investigations, for this 32 kilometre section of the Pacific Highway between Woodburn and Ballina. The Richmond Valley Region of New South Wales is an existing natural and cultural environment whose natural beauty and unique assets attract both locals and visitors. Important natural and man-made features include: the Richmond River; Blackwall Mountain Range; Broadwater National Park; Tuckean Nature Reserve; the townships of Woodburn, Broadwater and Wardell; Wardell Bridge; and the Broadwater Sugar Mill. Key work tasks include providing input to the engineering of the alignment of the identified highway options and helping identify the preferred highway alignment option. Future work components will include concept development of the preferred option — including input to the vertical and horizontal alignment, associated pedestrian and bicycle shared path connections, design of structures- bridges, underpasses, retaining structures, noise barriers and landscape design and a potential Environmental Impact Assessment.
