Newport Village Masterplan, Sydney Australia
HBO+EMTB undertook a masterplan for the Newport Village Centre. The masterplan delivers a detailed and comprehensive vision for the village, integrated private and public domain strategies, and a clear and workable urban framework to support revitalisation.
Working with Council, stakeholders and the community, the team developed concept options for the built form massing, the open space and pedestrian network, and the character elements that contribute to Newport’s unique identity. Urban design guidelines, streetscape and landscape initiatives, and detailed built form controls will inform Council’s consolidated LEP and DCP.
The masterplan process involved managing complex issues relating to land ownership, flooding, traffic, and the mix and diversity of uses, with the aim of creating a sustainable centre.
