Pacific Highway Upgrade: Brunswick Heads to Yelgun, Australia
As part of a multidisciplinary team of designers and contractors, HBO+EMTB prepared the urban design component of the successful Abigroup tender for the design, construction and maintenance of this nine kilometre section of the Pacific Highway.
The Brunswick Heads to Yelgun Upgrade is a unique section of the Pacific Highway of great natural beauty and high ecological value. The journey offers road users physical and/or visual connections to the Yelgun hills, Brunswick River, the Pacific Ocean coastline and the settlements of Brunswick Heads, Ocean Shores and Billinudgel. The Brunswick River itself is a key landmark providing views to the river, mangroves and coast.
Key work elements include input to the engineering of the alignment of the highway and associated pedestrian and bicycle shared path connections to surrounding settlements and input to the design of structures, including bridges, underpasses, retaining structures and noise barriers.
